ISLAMABAD, Mar 26 (APP): The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation on Thursday extended heartfelt congratulations to the leadership, government and people of Bangladesh on the occasion of its National Day, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening economic cooperation and regional partnership.

In a message issued on the occasion, the organization noted that this year’s National Day holds special significance as Bangladesh has successfully emerged from a peaceful electoral process, reflecting the resilience of its institutions and the people’s commitment to democratic governance, inclusivity and national renewal.

Moving forward, there is a huge opportunity to accelerate economic growth, strengthen people’s welfare, promote regional cooperation, and deepen the country’s international engagement.

The D-8 lauded Bangladesh’s continued contributions as an important member state, highlighting its role in promoting collaboration and partnership among member countries. It expressed confidence that Bangladesh would further expand its constructive engagement to advance shared goals of economic cooperation and sustainable development across the D-8 and beyond.

The organization also conveyed its best wishes for the country’s continued peace, progress and prosperity, while underscoring the importance of deeper mutual collaboration and solidarity among D-8 member states.

The D-8 comprises of Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Türkiye – collectively representing over 1.2 billion people and cumulatively over $ 5 trillion in GDP.
