ISLAMABAD, Mar 25 (APP): Prime Minister’s Coordinator for the National Peace Message Committee, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi on Wednesday said Pakistan’s growing diplomatic engagement in the Middle East crisis reflected its rising trust and stature in the comity of nations, while playing a key role in promoting restraint and unity among Muslim countries.
In a statement, Ashrafi highlighted the recent telephonic contact between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, describing it as a significant development in ongoing diplomatic efforts for regional peace. He said the “warm and cordial” exchange underscored Pakistan’s constructive outreach and its commitment to de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.
Ashrafi said the joint peace efforts of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye were commendable and reflected a collective resolve to prevent further escalation in the region.
He particularly appreciated the measured and restrained response demonstrated by Arab and Islamic countries, especially Saudi Arabia, noting that instead of reacting aggressively, they showed wisdom and patience. “This restraint is a positive and commendable step, taken in line with the guidance and diplomatic engagement of Pakistan’s leadership,” he added.
Ashrafi said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of attacks on Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed complete solidarity with the Kingdom, further strengthening brotherly ties between the two countries.
Highlighting Pakistan’s broader diplomatic role, Ashrafi welcomed the Prime Minister’s offer to host dialogue between Iran and the United States, terming it a reflection of the international community’s confidence in Pakistan as a credible mediator.
He said Pakistan’s consistent stance, emphasizing dialogue, diplomacy, and unity of the Muslim Ummah, had contributed to preventing a wider conflict in the region.
Ashrafi also referred to the Foreign Office’s position that Islamabad remained ready to facilitate talks if all parties agreed, adding that Pakistan’s role was being acknowledged globally, including by international leadership.
He emphasized that Pakistan would continue to work with brotherly countries to promote peace, stability, and harmony, while avoiding divisions within the Muslim world.
Concluding his remarks, Ashrafi said Pakistan’s principled and balanced diplomacy had enhanced its global standing and demonstrated its commitment to peace and unity in a time of crisis.
