PSCA surveillance leads to arrest of robbery suspects

LAHORE, Mar 25 (APP): The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) on Wednesday traced and arrested suspects involved in multiple robbery incidents in Hasan Abdal through its advanced surveillance system and coordinated action.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the suspects were fleeing from Islamabad towards Taxila after committing robberies and repeatedly changing their vehicle’s registration number to evade arrest.
A Virtual Patrolling Officer at Smart Safe City Taxila identified the suspicious vehicle, blacklisted it in the system and initiated continuous monitoring through the integrated Safe City camera network.
During tracking, the vehicle’s movement was detected towards Hasan Abdal, where information was promptly shared with Smart Safe City Hasan Abdal. The AI-based surveillance system successfully traced the vehicle, leading to timely action.
Following alerts issued by the Virtual Patrolling Officer, field police units from Taxila and Hasan Abdal set up pickets and intercepted the vehicle. The suspects were arrested on the spot and a case was registered, while further legal proceedings were underway.
The spokesperson urged citizens to report any suspicious activity by dialing Emergency Helpline 15 to enable prompt police response, adding that PSCA remained committed to maintaining public safety through modern technology and coordinated operations.
