Green tractors, advanced machinery uplift agri sector : CM

LAHORE, Mar 25 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that farmer-friendly policies and modern mechanization initiatives are transforming the agriculture sector and improving livelihoods across the province.
In a statement on Wednesday, the CM said that under the government’s programme, farmers are being provided with green tractors, wheat and rice combine harvesters, super seeders, and other advanced machinery to boost productivity and reduce costs. She added that 30,000 tractors are being distributed within two years, with over 20,000 already delivered while the remaining are in process.
The chief minister said that through the CM High-Tech Mechanization Financing Program, Rs30 billion has been allocated to facilitate farmers and service providers with access to modern agricultural equipment, including high-power tractors and combine harvesters.
She further said that 5,000 super seeders have been distributed at a cost of Rs4 billion, which are not only improving wheat sowing but also helping reduce smog by discouraging crop residue burning.
Emphasising the importance of innovation, Maryam Nawaz Sharif urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural practices and move away from traditional methods to enhance yield and ensure sustainability.
She said that the Punjab government will continue to support farmers through technology-driven initiatives aimed at strengthening agriculture and ensuring food security.
