ICT Police bust motorcycle dacoit gang, Afghan ringleader among three put in handcuffs

ISLAMABAD, Mar 19 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police carried out a major operation against organized street crime, putting three members of a motorcycle dacoit gang, including an Afghan ringleader, in handcuffs.
An official told APP on Thursday that the Anti-Robbery/Dacoity Unit arrested the accused involved in multiple incidents of snatching motorcycles and mobile phones at gunpoint.
He said that during the operation, police recovered seven snatched motorcycles and valuable mobile phones worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the possession of the arrested suspects.
The official added that the gang was involved in more than 10 cases registered at Humak and Industrial Area police stations, and recovery of stolen property had also been made in those cases.
He said that the gang leader Ali Asghar is an Afghan national, while other members include Haider Ali and Hussain.
DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that weapons along with ammunition used in the crimes were also recovered from the suspects.
He reiterated that Islamabad Police is continuing large-scale operations against organized and active criminal gangs, adding that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority.
