KOHAT, Mar 19 (APP):District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall law and order situation, ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, and security arrangements ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr in the district.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials, including SP Headquarters, Nawab Khan, SP City, Iftikhar Khan, SP Saddar Ihsan Shah, SP Investigation Niaz Muhammad Khan, as well as all DSPs, SHOs, and traffic officers.
The officials were given a detailed briefing on the district’s security landscape and anti-terrorism operations.
The DPO directed authorities to further tighten security at sensitive locations, places of worship, and key installations, while enhancing intelligence-based operations to prevent potential threats.
He ordered foolproof security arrangements at Eidgahs and mosques, with special monitoring of gatherings across different schools of thought. Additional deployment in sensitive areas and strict checking at entry and exit points were also instructed.
The meeting emphasized heightened security at bazaars, shopping centers, and public places to ensure a safe environment for citizens during Eid shopping. A zero-tolerance policy against aerial firing was announced, warning that violators would face strict legal action.
The DPO also directed increased patrolling at parks, recreational spots, and other public areas to ensure the safety of families during Eid festivities. Crackdowns against professional beggars and operations to arrest proclaimed offenders will continue.
Reaffirming the police’s commitment, Shehbaz Elahi said the police would take all necessary measures to eliminate terrorism and protect lives and property, ensuring peace during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Separately, the police recovered a large quantity of explosive firecrackers and arrested a suspect during an operation.
According to police, SHO Noor Muhammad led a special checkpoint within the limits of a local police station. During checking of suspicious individuals and vehicles, a suspect was intercepted and found in possession of explosive firecrackers.
The accused was arrested on the spot, and a case was registered against him .
