RTA Hyderabad recovers Rs24, 68000 in excess fares, slaps Rs7,22000 fines

The Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Hyderabad has claimed that they have recovered Rs.24, 68000 charged in excess fares from the people returning to their homes to celebrate Eidul Fitr by the transporters.

HYDERABAD, Mar 18 (APP):The Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Hyderabad has claimed that they have recovered Rs.24, 68000 charged in excess fares from the people returning to their homes to celebrate Eidul Fitr by the transporters.
The Secretary Saleem Memon informed here on Tuesday that a team of the RTA Hyderabad checked more than 164 public transport vehicles transporting people from different destinations in the country through Hyderabad.
He claimed that they also imposed a total of Rs 7,22000. in fines on the transporters for charging excess fares.
Memon said the Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who is also the province’s Senior and Information Minister, had strictly directed the transport officials to ensure a crackdown against the transporters looting passengers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Eid.
The Secretary warned the transporters to desist from robbing the passengers if they did not want to face penalties.
