Two cops injured in hand grenade attack on checkpost

Two police constables were injured in a hand grenade attack carried out by unidentified terrorists on a police checkpost here in the wee hours of Wednesday morning in the Budha Bair area, police confirmed.

According to details, the attack targeted the Zangli checkpost, where assailants hurled a hand grenade and fled the scene. The injured personnel were identified as Constables Shafiullah and Haibat.
Police officials said the injured cops were immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, where they were receiving medical treatment.
Following the attack, police personnel retaliated with full force; however, the attackers managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
Meanwhile, SSP Operations Peshawar, Farhan Khan, visited the hospital and inquired after the injured constables.
He directed hospital authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care.
He said that the security across the district had been placed on high alert, while checking at all entry and exit points had been further tightened to prevent any untoward incident.
