Twelve people were killed and 1,427 others injured in 1,244 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to a report, issued by the Punjab Emergency Service (PES), commonly known as Rescue-1122, here on Monday.

LAHORE, Mar 16 (APP):Twelve people were killed and 1,427 others injured in 1,244 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to a report, issued by the Punjab Emergency Service (PES), commonly known as Rescue-1122, here on Monday.
As many as 650 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 777 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams. The data analysis showed that 816 drivers, 64 underage drivers, 142 pedestrians and 481 passengers were among the victims of road crashes. The statistics showed that 204 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 248 placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Faisalabad with 100 accidents and 121 victims, and at third Multan with 86 accidents and 94 victims.
According to the data, 1,299 motorcycles, 79 rickshaws, 128 cars, 32, four passenger buses, 42 trucks and 67 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the road accidents.
