ISLAMABAD, Mar 14 (APP): Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has paid rich tribute to the newly elected Speaker of Parliament of Bangladesh, Major (R) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, on his unanimous and unopposed election, describing it as a clear reflection of his political stature, leadership and the confidence reposed in him by members of the House.
Ayaz Sadid had earlier sent a felicitation message to the Bangladeshi leader along with a formal invitation to visit Pakistan following his election as Speaker of the Bangladeshi Parliament, said a news release.
Subsequently, both parliamentary leaders held a telephone conversation during which the newly elected Bangladeshi Speaker expressed his gratitude to Ayaz Sadiq for being among the first to extend congratulations on his successful election.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed various avenues to further strengthen parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting parliamentary cooperation, enhancing institutional linkages and encouraging the exchange of experiences between the two legislatures.
The two dignitaries also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, regional cooperation and the promotion of parliamentary diplomacy.
Ayaz Sadiq expressed hope that increased interaction between the two parliaments would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Speaker also formally invited Major (R) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed to visit Pakistan, saying that the Parliament and people of the country would warmly welcome his visit.
The Bangladeshi Speaker graciously accepted the invitation and expressed his intention to visit Pakistan in the near future.
Ayaz Sadiq also conveyed his best wishes for the success of the newly elected Bangladeshi Speaker in fulfilling his parliamentary responsibilities.
