PPP leaders congratulate newly elected office-bearers of NPC

ISLAMABAD, Mar 14 (APP): Central Spokesperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Shazia Marri has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the National Press Club (NPC) for the elections.

In a statement, Shazia Marri extended her heartfelt congratulations to Abdul Razzaq Sial on being elected President of the National Press Club and Dr. Furqan Rao on his success as Secretary.

She also congratulated Abid Abbasi on being elected Finance Secretary and Ihtisham-ul-Haq on his election as Senior Vice President.

Shazia Marri further felicitated Sehr Qureshi, Usman Khan, and Bashir Chaudhry for securing positions as Vice Presidents.

She also congratulated Shiraz Gardezi on being elected Senior Joint Secretary, while extending her best wishes to Shakeela Jalil, Aoun Shirazi, and Javed Bhagat on their success in the elections.

Shazia Marri expressed hope that the newly elected leadership would continue to play a proactive role in protecting press freedom and addressing the challenges faced by the journalist community.

She emphasized that strengthening independent journalism is essential for the development of a democratic society.

Meanwhile, Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party and Senator Sherry Rehman also congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the National Press Club.

In her message, she specifically felicitated Abdul Razzaq Sial and other successful candidates of the Democratic Panel on their victory.

Sherry Rehman said that the National Press Club has long remained a strong bastion of freedom of expression and independent journalism in the country.

She expressed confidence that the new leadership would confront the challenges faced by journalists with courage and determination.

Sherry Rehman said that safeguarding the legacy of press freedom is a major responsibility of the newly elected leadership of the National Press Club.

She reaffirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party will continue to support the legitimate rights and stance of the journalist community.

The PPP leader further noted that the promotion of free and responsible journalism is essential for national development and prosperity, reiterating that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood by journalists in the struggle for press freedom and will continue to do so in the future.
