ISLAMABAD, Mar 12 (APP): Service to humanity is the greatest worship and social responsibility while taking care of deserving and orphans is a great duty through which not only the life of the needy can be made easy but a person can also improve his hereafter, said Social worker, columnist and Chairperson of Sindhu Social Welfare Trust Dr. Afshan Malik.
Addressing the Iftar dinner arranged at Pakistan Sweet Home, she said that whatever position, resources and honor Allah Almighty has given to a person is actually a trust and its main purpose is to help the needy and deprived classes. She thanked the guests who attended the ceremony and said that all sections of the society should actively participate in such welfare works.
Dr. Afshan Malik said that the role of such individuals in this journey of social service is highly commendable who dedicate their lives and resources for the good of humanity. She appreciated the services of Zamrud Khan and said that he is working for the support and welfare of thousands of orphans, which is certainly a big and difficult task.
She said that it is difficult to take responsibility for even a few members of a single family, but supporting such a large number of children is an extraordinary service for which he should be paid tribute.
Talking about his personal life experiences, she said that after the death of his father at a young age, he had to face the pain and difficulties of orphanhood closely. Later, more tragedies occurred in the family and after the death of his three young brothers, the problem of supporting their children came to the fore. These circumstances made her realize how important it is to help orphans and helpless people.
Dr. Afshan Malik said that Allah Almighty showed him the path of social service and she is engaged in welfare activities with this mission. she said that a person should include the needy in his happiness because the smile on the faces of orphans and deprived children provides real peace to the human heart.
She said that a person should be sincere in his good deeds and should do welfare work only for Allah. Referring to a sermon heard during Hajj, she said that if good deeds are done for show, they are wasted, therefore, the intention behind every action should be pure.
She said that in the present era, the feeling and mutual connections are decreasing in the society and people are becoming unaware of each other’s problems and difficulties. The modern lifestyle and busyness have increased the distances between people, due to which social harmony and mutual sympathy are being affected.
Dr. Afshan Malik said that Islam teaches service to humanity and helping the needy and feeding a hungry person, helping a distressed person or bringing a smile to someone’s face is also charity. She said that promoting humanity, sympathy and feeling in the society is the need of the hour.
She expressed her determination to continue her efforts for the welfare of orphans and deserving children in the future and invited philanthropists from the society to actively participate in this good cause.
