A modern Dermatology Block and an auditorium constructed by doctors through self-help efforts were formally inaugurated at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Thursday.

LAHORE, Mar 12 (APP): A modern Dermatology Block and an auditorium constructed by doctors through self-help efforts were formally inaugurated at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Thursday.
Principal of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College and Lahore General Hospital Professor Dr. Farooq Afzal inaugurated the block and said that the establishment of the facility would provide patients with state-of-the-art medical services of international standards. He said that the availability of modern medical equipment and machinery would not only improve patient care but also enhance the professional skills of young doctors and open new avenues for research.
Head of the Department of Dermatology Professor Atif Shahzad, Professor Ejaz Hussain, Professor Zahida Rani, Professor Aneela Asghar, Professor Tahir Jameel and other dermatology specialists were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Atif Shahzad highlighted the diagnostic and treatment facilities available in the new block and said that it has been equipped with the latest laser machines, including Excimer, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Diode lasers. He said that these advanced technologies would help provide effective and modern treatment to patients suffering from skin diseases and significantly improve the management of various complicated conditions.
To acknowledge the valuable services of prominent personalities in the medical field, the auditorium and the central block have been named after renowned dermatologist Professor Dr. Tahir Saeed Haroon. The Laser and Phototherapy Suite has been named after noted dermatologist Manzoor Hassan. In addition, a special “Yasmina Khan Pediatric Dermatology Unit” has been established for the treatment of skin diseases in children, where modern and quality healthcare facilities will be provided.
Addressing the participants and media, Professor Dr. Farooq Afzal paid tribute to the doctors for their dedication to serving humanity. He said that the medical profession is not merely a job but a sacred responsibility to serve mankind. He added that the completion of the project through self-help efforts of doctors proves that significant achievements can be made even with limited resources when the intention is to serve.
He particularly appreciated the tireless efforts of Professor Dr. Atif Shahzad and his team in completing the project and said their work would prove to be a valuable asset for both patients and the medical community in the future. He further said that the availability of modern dermatological facilities within the hospital would enable patients to receive treatment of international standards at Lahore General Hospital, calling it a significant milestone for the institution. He also expressed his commitment to completing more development projects on a priority basis to further improve healthcare services for patients.
Doctors including Dr. Wajeeha Saeed, Dr. Saadia Siddiqui, Dr. Aima Shaheen, Dr. Samreen Rafi, Dr. Shaeqa Ali, Dr. Ahmed Kazmi, Dr. Afshan Ahmed, Dr. Hina Manzoor, Dr. Farhana Nadeem, Dr. Sobia Ali, Dr. Fida Elahi, Dr. Urooj, Dr. Nabila, Dr. Huma, Dr. Urooj Ashraf, Dr. Abdul Aziz, Saima Fateh and nurses were also present at the ceremony.
