AJK Election Commission launches door-to-door voter registration drive ahead of 2026 elections

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission (AJK EC) is set to initiate a comprehensive door-to-door voter registration drive across the region, sources confirmed Tuesday.

MIRPUR, Mar 10 (APP): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission (AJK EC) is set to initiate a comprehensive door-to-door voter registration drive across the region, sources confirmed Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Commission has announced the qualifying date for registration as April 1, 2026, and enumerators will visit households to register eligible voters in line with the law.
Furthermore, AJK EC sources stated, while talking to APP, that to qualify, a voter must be at least 18 years old and not declared incompetent by a court of law. In addition, registration will be carried out at the permanent address listed on the voter’s CNIC. Those wishing to register at a temporary address must update their CNIC details before the qualifying date, as registration at the permanent address will be mandatory.
Moreover, the current electoral roll has been prepared over 14 years ago, and since then, many residents have become newly eligible while others may need removal due to migration or death. Subsequently, the public has been informed through advertisements and public notices that all individuals aged 18 or above as of April 1, 2026, holding a valid CNIC or NADRA Form “B,” are eligible for inclusion in the electoral roll.
AJK Election Commission also emphasized that voting is a fundamental right and a national responsibility. Therefore, all eligible residents are urged to participate in the registration process and exercise their right to vote, ensuring their voices are counted in the upcoming elections.
