ATC issues notices on bail pleas of 42 protest suspects

ISLAMABAD, Mar 9 (APP): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Monday issued notices on bail petitions filed by 42 suspects arrested during protests held after the death of a global religious figure.
The hearing was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain. During the proceedings, the court took up the bail applications submitted on behalf of the suspects and directed the relevant authorities to respond.
The judge stated that notices are being issued and arguments on the bail pleas will be heard on the next date. The court also directed the police to submit the complete case record on time for review during the upcoming hearing.
Police have registered two separate cases against the suspects in connection with the protest incidents. According to the record, the cases were filed at Secretariat Police Station and Aabpara Police Station under anti-terrorism provisions along with other legal sections.
The suspects were earlier taken into custody by police during action related to the protest events. Their lawyers have now approached the court seeking bail.
After issuing the notices, the court adjourned the hearing and scheduled the next proceedings for March 12. The court will hear arguments from both sides before making a decision on the bail requests.
