WASA chief warns of demotions for missing commercial revenue targets

FAISALABAD, Mar 09 (APP): Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Saqib Raza on Monday warned that officers who failed to achieve the assigned commercial revenue recovery targets would face demotion, directing all field staff to ensure the set goals were met without exception.
Chairing a meeting to review the progress of revenue recovery from commercial consumers, he said that the agency had fixed a target of Rs.425 million for recovery by the end of March and all concerned officers must focus their efforts to achieve the goal within stipulated time.
He directed the Industry and Commercial Revenue Directorate to closely monitor recovery operations and ensure strict compliance with the targets. The performance of field officers and staff would undergo monthly evaluation to determine their effectiveness in meeting assigned responsibilities, he added.
He made it clear that officers and staff who failed to meet the recovery targets would face demotion while those showing outstanding performance would receive incentives and recognition for their efforts.
He emphasized that any recovery below the assigned target would remain unacceptable and the department would not make any compromise on revenue collection as the agency required sufficient resources to maintain and improve its services.
He also proposed that all industries remain closed from 25th of Ramadan until third day of Eid-ul-Fitr so that WASA could ensure better drainage and sanitation services during Eid holidays.
Uninterrupted drainage facilities during the festive period remained essential to facilitate the people, he said and directed WASA officials to take all necessary measures to maintain an efficient sewerage system across the city.
