Over 1,000 ICT Police deployed for Eid shopping security

ISLAMABAD, Mar 09 (APP):With Eid shopping gaining momentum during the third Ashra of Ramazan, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have deployed over 1,000 officers and personnel across major markets and commercial centres to ensure the safety and convenience of citizens.
An official told APP on Monday that foolproof security arrangements have been put in place in markets and shopping centres across the federal capital in view of the increasing rush of shoppers.
He said foot patrols have been increased while Dolphin Force units are actively patrolling markets and surrounding areas to ensure the protection of citizens during Eid shopping.
DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said lady police officers have also been deployed in markets to facilitate women and provide them with a safe environment.
He said additional personnel of Islamabad Traffic Police have also been deployed on major roads and around busy markets to maintain smooth traffic flow.
The official said Safe City cameras are continuously monitoring markets and commercial centres to enhance surveillance and ensure effective security.
DIG Tariq further directed that senior police officers personally supervise the security arrangements to ensure their effective implementation.
He also instructed officers to keep a close watch on professional beggars and elements involved in fraud and take legal action against them.
Tariq reiterated that Islamabad Police remain fully committed to providing a safe and secure environment for citizens during Eid shopping and protecting their lives and property.
