Police step up operations against militants, criminals

KOHAT, Mar 9 (APP):The district police intensified large-scale search and strike operations targeting militants, proclaimed offenders and their facilitators, the police said on Monday.
The operations were being carried out under the direction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s IGP, Zulfiqar Hameed .
According to police, the teams led by District Police Officer Shehbaz Ilahi conducted raids in remote and mountainous areas within the jurisdiction of Shakardara police station. Several suspected hideouts were destroyed during the operation and a number of suspects, including alleged facilitators, were detained.
The senior officers, including SP Saddar Ihsan Shah and DSP Lachi Sadat Khan, took part in the coordinated operation along with personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the Elite Force, the Bomb Disposal Squad and women police officers.
The police said houses, sensitive locations and suspected hideouts were searched to prevent potential threats to public safety.
In a separate operation, the police from MRS police station stopped a suspicious vehicle during a blockade on the Indus Highway.
The police led by Station House Officer Noor Muhammad recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the vehicle.
The police said the seized weapons included 19 Kalashnikov rifles, 44 magazines of 7.62 calibre, 22 pistols of .30 bore, nine 9mm pistols, 1,650 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 850 rounds of 30 bore and 25 rounds of 12-bore ammunition.
Two outlaws identified as Armanullah and Yaseen Rahman were arrested at the scene, they added.
A case has been registered and investigation were underway, the police said.
