The campaign, running in Rawalpindi, Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Attock, Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb, Hazro, Jand, Hassan Abdal, Jhelum, Sohawa, Pind Dadan Khan, Dina, Chakwal, Choa Saidan Shah, Kallar Kahar, Talagang and Lawa, “aims to educate citizens about proper waste disposal and the penalties for littering,” he said.
The spokesman said communication and operations teams were visiting homes and interacting with residents, urging them to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness. Awareness announcements were also being broadcast via speakers in neighbourhoods to remind the public to dispose of waste at designated points.
Citizens were also sensitised to fines under anti-littering laws, ranging from Rs1,000 to Rs700,000 for those found spreading garbage.
RWMC Chief Executive Officer Rana Sajid Safdar said the door-to-door campaign was intended to instil the understanding that cleanliness is a shared responsibility of both institutions and citizens. He emphasised that those violating anti-littering regulations would be fined and that public cooperation was essential to improve waste management systems.
Rana Sajid urged residents to dispose of waste at designated locations, assist sanitation staff, and play their part in keeping their areas clean, aiming to make the Rawalpindi Division a model district under the Suthra Punjab programme.
