TASHKENT, March 5 (UzA/APP) : A training session was organized in Tashkent to strengthen national capacity to implement Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement and the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM).
The event, organized by the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Uzbekistan, was attended by representatives of ministries and agencies, state-owned enterprises, the private sector, and international experts.
This project, funded by the Japanese government, aims to promote innovative decarbonization solutions in Uzbekistan and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving energy efficiency in public facilities and public transportation.
Detailed information was provided at the event about the international mechanism under the relevant article of the Paris Agreement.
International experts exchanged views on other countries’ methods and discussed the priority areas for Uzbekistan – renewable energy, resource efficiency, and industrial potential. During the interactive part of the event, the country’s institutional readiness was assessed, and a preliminary action plan was developed.
According to experts, this initiative creates a foundation for Uzbekistan’s active entry into the international carbon market.
