Disputed tweet case: court sets March 6 hearing on Haider Saeed bail appeals

ISLAMABAD, Mar 04 (APP):The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad on Wednesday took up appeals filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) social media activist Haider Saeed after the rejection of his bail pleas in a case linked to a disputed tweet.

The court issued notices on the bail appeals and fixed March 6 for arguments from both sides.

The matter was heard by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka. During the hearing, the court directed the prosecution and the defence to prepare arguments for the next date.

Haider Saeed, represented by Advocate Sardar Muhammad Masroof along with other counsel, challenged earlier orders that denied him bail. The defence sought relief against the rejection and requested the court to review the decisions.

Earlier, Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah had dismissed Haider Saeed’s bail applications. Following those orders, the accused moved the sessions court to file appeals.

According to the case record, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered two cases against Haider Saeed in connection with content shared on social media. The cases relate to a tweet termed controversial by the authorities.

The court adjourned further proceedings on the bail appeals until March 6. On the next hearing, both parties are expected to present their arguments before the court decides the matter.
