ISLAMABAD, Mar 04 (APP):The country currently holds sufficient stocks of petrol and high-speed diesel, well within the prescribed limits.
“There is no shortage of petroleum products in the country,” a spokesperson for the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) said on Wednesday in a statement.
The spokesperson urged citizens not to pay heed to rumors and to rely only on information disseminated through official channels.
The statement added that Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) may temporarily regulate the supply of petroleum products to retail outlets in line with their historical sales patterns to ensure uninterrupted availability and discourage hoarding during periods of extreme price volatility.
He said the measure was a standard supply management practice aimed at maintaining stability in the distribution system.
The spokesperson clarified that the step was precautionary in nature and designed to prevent artificial shortages that could arise due to panic buying or speculative stockpiling.
