YPP urges to ensure equal women’s representation

ISLAMABAD, Mar 4 (APP):The Youth Parliament of Pakistan (YPP) has urged national and international stakeholders to take sustained action to ensure women’s equal representation in decision-making, strengthen legal protections for women’s rights and workplace equality.
YPP also asked to prioritize girls’ education and leadership development, and amplify women’s voices in climate action, peace-building, and economic policy.

We stand united in our commitment to advocate for gender-responsive policies and to build a world where every woman and girl can participate fully, freely, and fearlessly in shaping her future, Hira Bilal, International Delegate, Youth Parliament of Pakistan (YPP) said in a statement issued here.
We must recognize the pivotal role of women as leaders, innovators, and change-makers in shaping the nation’s policies, development, and global standing, as their meaningful participation in policy-making is essential to address global challenges and ensure inclusive governance as both a moral and strategic imperative, said a press release.
Hira said as a youth-led platform, we recognize the vital role of young women in shaping future policies and global agendas. The Youth Parliament of Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusive governance.
Over the past years, it has played a leading role in diplomatic engagements, empowering young professional girls of Pakistan to contribute to global challenges and project a positive national image.
Young women have represented Pakistan at the Commonwealth and the United Nations through delegations, sidelines, and formal interventions that promote Pakistan’s narrative through advocacy and diplomacy.
Ensuring the role of women in the legislative framework is a crucial aspect of governance. In this regard, the Parliament plays a vital role in engaging women in legislative matters through multiple avenues.
We commend the invaluable efforts of the Women Parliamentary Caucus for its leadership in advancing gender-responsive legislation and ensuring that women’s voices are represented in national policy discourse.
