ISLAMABAD, Mar 04 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police checked 1,007 individuals during grand combing and search operations across various areas of the federal capital, detaining 60 suspects, including five Afghan nationals, during the crackdown launched against criminal elements and illegal residents.
An official told APP on Wednesday that search operations were conducted in the jurisdictions of Sahala, Sangjani, Aabpara, Shalimar, Sabzi Mandi, and Khanna police stations under the supervision of the respective zonal SPs.
He said lady police officials also participated in the operations to ensure thorough checking and verification.
During the operations, police teams checked 1,007 individuals and 268 households, while 22 shops and 33 hotels were also inspected.
He said 275 motorcycles and 146 vehicles were examined during the search operations.
The official added that 60 suspicious individuals, including five Afghan nationals, along with 30 motorcycles, were shifted to the relevant police stations for further verification.
Police also recovered illegal weapons with ammunition, 1,120 grams of heroin and 146 grams of ice during the operations.
He said three criminals were also arrested during the search drives.
IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has directed police to continue grand search operations across the district to eliminate crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
