Farhan shines as Pakistan stars surge in latest ICC T20I Rankings

ISLAMABAD, Mar 04 (APP): The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday released its latest T20I Player Rankings following the Super Eights stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and Abrar Ahmed making significant gains.

Opener Sahibzada Farhan has emerged as one of the biggest highlights of the tournament, narrowing the gap at the top of the T20I batter rankings. Farhan climbed one spot to claim second position with a career-best rating after producing a historic feat — becoming the first player to score two centuries in a single edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

His superb hundred against Sri Lanka national cricket team in Pallekele capped a remarkable campaign in which he amassed 383 runs. The prolific right-hander overtook Phil Salt and now trails India’s Abhishek Sharma by just 26 rating points at the summit of the T20I batting charts.

Farhan’s consistency at the top of the order has provided Pakistan with strong starts throughout the tournament, underlining his growing stature in international cricket.

Pakistan also celebrated success in the bowling rankings, where mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed continued his impressive rise. Abrar gained two places to move up to third overall among T20I bowlers, closing in on India’s top-ranked spinner Varun Chakravarthy, whose lead has been reduced to just 18 rating points.

Abrar’s disciplined spells and crucial breakthroughs during the World Cup have been instrumental in Pakistan’s campaign, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most effective spinners in the shortest format.

In the all-rounders’ category, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub remained among the top ranked despite slipping one position to third, as India’s Hardik Pandya moved into second behind Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza.

Elsewhere in the batting rankings, India’s Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma made gains inside the top 10, while South Africa’s Dewald Brevis advanced to eighth. Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett also impressed with a six-place jump to 11th following a strong tournament.
