ISLAMABAD, Mar 04 (APP):The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) has announced the launch of its First National Contest for Need-Based Technologies 2026, opening doors for young students and researchers across the country to present innovative solutions to real-world problems.
PSF, which has long been committed to promoting science and creativity among school and university students, says the contest is designed to encourage applied science and technology that directly addresses local and national needs.
The foundation is inviting projects and innovations from young researchers and students that are original, practically presented, and capable of making a meaningful difference in everyday life. According to an official sour e, the interested participants are expected to present their innovation in the form of working models or physical products.
The contest is divided into two categories. The first category is aimed at students from Grade 7 to Grade 12, covering secondary and higher secondary school levels. Students in this category may participate individually or in groups of up to three, with a registration fee of Rs. 2,000 per individual or group. The second category is open to university students enrolled at the BS or MS level in any public or private government-recognized institution in Pakistan.
Like the first category, participation can be individual or in a group of up to three students, though the registration fee is higher at Rs. 5,000 per individual or group.
The cash prizes are on offer for top performers in both categories. In the school-level category, the first prize stands at Rs. 200,000, the second at Rs. 150,000, and the third at Rs. 100,000. University-level participants compete for more substantial rewards, with the first prize set at Rs. 500,000, the second at Rs. 300,000, and the third at Rs. 100,000. PSF has made clear that prizes will only be awarded to projects that are original, clearly presented, and practically viable.
All working models and products must be physically delivered to the PSF office located at 1-Constitution Avenue, G-5/2, Islamabad, before the April 30 deadline. The decision of the jury will be considered final in all matters.
The last date to submit entries is April 30, 2026, and application forms are available for download on the PSF’s official website at psf.gov.pk.
