FAISALABAD, Mar 03 (APP):Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) has initiated a comprehensive desilting campaign at its disposal stations across the city with a target to complete the process before Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure uninterrupted drainage services.
WASA spokesman said here on Tuesday that Managing Director WASA had earlier formulated a comprehensive and sustainable plan to provide quality sewerage and drainage facilities during Eid-ul-Fitr and the ensuing holidays.
Under this plan, Directors of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) were instructed to ensure desilting of all disposal stations within their respective jurisdictions before the festival.
In compliance with these directions, desilting work at PS-19 Disposal Station has commenced and a progress report has been submitted to the Managing Director.
The ongoing campaign would help remove accumulated silt and debris from the stations to enhance operational efficiency and prevent sewerage overflows during the festive period, he added.
Meanwhile, MD WASA emphasized that timely completion of desilting before Eid-ul-Fitr is essential to provide relief from sewerage-related issues.
He reiterated that service delivery in sewerage operations is top priority of WASA and all available resources are being utilized to achieve this target.
He made it clear that no compromise would be made on ensuring efficient drainage services and directed field staff to maintain strict monitoring so that the people could celebrate Eid without facing sanitation problems.
