Rs1.7bn sports development push gains momentum across Faisalabad division

FAISALABAD, Mar 03 (APP):Construction and rehabilitation work on 14 new and upgradation sports development schemes is progressing steadily across Faisalabad division while more than 60 percent work has already been completed with an estimated cost of Rs.1.701784 billion.
Divisional Sports Officer Syed Shah Manzar Afridi told APP that the ongoing projects included five new schemes and eight upgradation and rehabilitation initiatives while two projects have already been completed.
He said that 52 percent of the allocated funds have so far been released and overall physical progress has crossed 63 percent.
Providing district-wise details, he said that nine schemes are underway in Faisalabad district including four new projects and five upgradation schemes. Work on two projects in Faisalabad is currently halted while three new schemes have been initiated and three upgradation projects have achieved over 50 percent completion.
The “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” for one project has been submitted to the Director General Sports office and work is expected to commence soon, he added.
In Jhang district, two projects were included in the development plan. One has been completed while the second has achieved 74 percent progress.
In Toba Tek Singh, two schemes are nearing completion. One new project has reached 35 percent completion whereas an upgradation scheme has crossed 76 percent progress.
In Chiniot, one upgradation project is under execution and has achieved 75 percent completion so far, he added.
Divisional Sports Officer said that all projects are being executed strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations while ensuring transparency and merit.
Upon completion, these schemes would significantly improve sports infrastructure in the division and provide better facilities to young athletes, he added.
