Lawmakers in Senate condemn attack on Iran

ISLAMABAD, Mar 03 (APP):Lawmakers in the Upper House of Parliament on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent attack on Iran, describing it as an unprovoked and unjustifiable assault that resulted in significant civilian casualties.
Taking part in the debate, Parliamentary leader Syed Ali Zafar denounced the actions of Israel and the United States, calling them violations of international norms and human rights.
He highlighted the targeting of Iran’s leadership and the indiscriminate bombing of innocent civilians, stating that these attacks have escalated regional tensions and pose a severe threat to stability.
“These attacks are a blatant assault on humanity, and on behalf of our nation, we raise our voice against such atrocities,” he asserted.
PML-N Senator Dr. Afan Ullah strongly condemned the unprovoked strike on Iran, describing it as deliberate and unjustified, leading to the martyrdom of the Iranian Supreme Leader.
He warned that the conflict continues to escalate with no signs of abating, emphasizing the urgent need for caution. Highlighting Pakistan’s responsible stance, he reaffirmed that no foreign bases exist on Pakistani soil and that no attacks were launched from its territory, despite rising regional tensions.
Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Haji Hidayatullah expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Iranian leaders, their associates, and family members, particularly highlighting the martyrdom of figures such as Ayatollah Hosseini Khamenei.
He urged the government to ensure citizens retain the right to peaceful protest and lawful expression of their sentiments.
Senator Jam Saifullah noted that even at the age of 86, those affected had demonstrated steadfast commitment to their cause, underscoring the human cost of the conflict.
JUI-F Senator Atta-ur-Rehman highlighted the escalating regional tensions, stressing that recent developments have significantly undermined peace. He emphasized Pakistan’s historical stake in regional stability and called for careful foreign policy, particularly in light of ongoing challenges with India and deteriorating conditions in Afghanistan.
Senator Bilal expressed concern over the recent surge in violence, which has caused numerous deaths, warning that the region remains volatile, where even minor incidents could trigger broader conflict.
Aoun Abbas expressed profound grief over the attacks, mourning the deaths of Ayatollah Khamenei and more than 150 schoolgirls. He described the attacks as unjust and deplorable, emphasizing the senseless targeting of innocent civilians, and offered prayers for the victims while expressing solidarity with affected families.
Senators Danesh Kumar, Azam Khan Swati, and Mashal Azam also condemned the Israeli attack on Iran and called for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
