ISLAMABAD, Mar 02 (APP):Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Muhammad Humayun Khan has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Hindu community across the country for supporting President Asif Ali Zardari’s appeal to observe Holi with simplicity and in the spirit of national unity.
In a statement issued here, Humayun Khan said that by wholeheartedly endorsing the President’s call, the Hindu community has demonstrated patriotism, responsibility and a strong sense of national consciousness.
He said that the gesture reflects a collective commitment to prioritizing national interest, peace and stability above all else.
Humayun Khan noted that, in view of the prevailing security situation and circumstances along the western border, it is prudent to limit large public gatherings and large-scale celebrations to ensure national security and maintain law and order.
He emphasized that taking precautionary measures and complying with directives issued by local authorities is a shared responsibility of all citizens.
Humayun Khan reaffirmed that Pakistan takes pride in its religious and cultural diversity, where followers of all faiths enjoy complete freedom to celebrate their religious festivals.
However, he added that in light of current challenges, promoting national harmony, responsibility and unity is the need of the hour.
Paying tribute to the Hindu community, he extended advance greetings on the occasion of Holi and expressed hope that the festival of colors would be celebrated with simplicity, moderation and mutual respect in keeping with the spirit of national unity.
He further reiterated that the PPP would continue its efforts to promote interfaith harmony, brotherhood and sustainable peace throughout the country.
