Over 32,700 illegal foreign nationals deported

LAHORE, Mar 02 (APP):Over 32,700 illegally residing foreign nationals, including Afghans, have been deported from Lahore and other parts of Punjab as the province-wide action against illegal residents continues at a fast pace.
The Punjab Police spokesperson said on Monday that the ongoing deportation drive was being carried out across the province in an organised and effective manner, adding that 346 illegal residents were currently present at various holding points.
Providing further details, the spokesperson said that those deported included 12,357 men, 6,673 women and 13,700 children. Among them, 10,441 were holders of proof of residence, 11,098 were Afghan Citizen Card holders, while 11,190 were other illegally residing foreign nationals.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem said that the entire province remained on high security alert and the expulsion of all illegally residing individuals was being ensured under all circumstances.
He added that Punjab Police were implementing the government’s policy regarding deportation of illegal residents in accordance with international laws and that the entire process was being carried out with full observance of human rights.
