RAWALPINDI, Mar 02 (APP): Rawalpindi Police have conducted separate operations in different areas, arresting six individuals on charges of gambling, liquor possession and illegal weapons, police spokesman said on Monday.
In Wah Saddar, police have arrested two gamblers and recovered Rs80,000 in stake money, four mobile phones and playing cards from their possession.
A case has been registered against the suspects and further investigation is underway.
SP Potohar Sardar Babar Mumtaz Khan said the arrested individuals would be challaned in court with solid evidence, adding that gambling is the root cause of many social evils.
In separate operations, Rawalpindi Police detained four more individuals and recovered five litres of liquor as well as illegal weapons with ammunition.
The operation were carried out in the jurisdictions of Waris Khan, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan police stations.
Divisional SPs stated that strict action is being taken against those involved in drugs, illegal liquor and unlawful weapons, warning that such elements cannot escape the grip of the law.
