ATTOCK, Mar 2 (APP): An important meeting of the District Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Monday was held at the DC Office Attock under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Aneel Saeed. The session was attended by Secretary RTA Sardar Zaheer Ahmad Khan, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Attock Sardar Aftab Khan, and representatives from Traffic Police, Mines Department, Punjab Highway Patrol, National Highways and Motorway Police, Rescue 1122, and other relevant departments.
The primary agenda focused on administrative preparations for the expected launch of electric buses in Attock district. Participants carried out a detailed review of proposed routes, terminal establishment, identification of bus stops, and passenger facilitation measures. Planning also covered roadside beautification and strategies to ensure smoother traffic flow in urban and inter-city corridors.
It was decided that bus terminals across the district, including the General Bus Stand, would be upgraded in phases to provide organized and safer travel facilities. Departments concerned were directed to prepare a comprehensive action plan to enhance cleanliness, improve waiting areas, streamline parking arrangements, and ensure the availability of basic amenities for commuters.
The meeting further examined recent traffic accidents and deliberated on preventive measures. Proposals included strengthening traffic management, curbing overloading, ensuring driver fitness checks, and intensifying road safety awareness campaigns. Representatives of Rescue 1122 presented a report on recent emergencies, response times, and preparedness measures.
Concluding the session, ADC (G) Aneel Saeed directed that all administrative, legal, and safety requirements be fulfilled prior to the electric bus launch, emphasizing coordinated implementation to safeguard life and property.
