ISLAMABAD, Mar 02 (APP):President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Sardar Tahir Mehmood, on Monday said the spirit of Ramadan teaches compassion, generosity and service to humanity, urging greater support for welfare institutions serving orphaned and underprivileged children.
Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted for children of Pakistan Sweet Home, he called upon the business community to step forward and contribute generously towards humanitarian causes.
“These children are the future of Pakistan,” he said, noting with satisfaction that many students from Pakistan Sweet Home were now pursuing higher education in medical colleges, engineering universities and other professional disciplines to serve the country.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood paid tribute to Zamurrad Khan, recipient of the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, for his leadership and efforts in running service-oriented organisations dedicated to humanitarian work.
He said Pakistan Sweet Home was providing shelter, quality education and a nurturing environment to children. Reaffirming the chamber’s commitment, he said the ICCI would continue to support the noble cause of Pakistan Sweet Home under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes and work closely with the business community to strengthen philanthropic initiatives for building a better future for deserving children.
