PESHAWAR, Mar 02 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday extended heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community on the joyous occasion of Holi, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding minority rights and promoting interfaith harmony in the country.
In his message, the Governor said that Holi is a festival of colours, love, tolerance, and brotherhood that conveys the message of mutual respect, peace, and unity.
He said the Hindu community residing in Pakistan was playing a vital role in the country’s development and prosperity, adding that ensuring their religious freedom and social protection was the responsibility of the state.
He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party had always taken practical steps to protect the rights of minorities and to integrate them into the national mainstream.
He said that the party’s leadership had strengthened minority rights through legislation and had also ensured representation of the Hindu community in the Upper House.
The Governor referred to the nomination of Krishna Kumari Kohli, a woman from the underprivileged Hindu community of Thar, to a Senate seat, describing it as a clear manifestation of the commitment of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that minorities are equal citizens of Pakistan.
Faisal Karim Kundi said the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party had always made interfaith harmony, tolerance and democratic values the cornerstone of its politics, terming this vision essential for a peaceful and strong Pakistan.
He prayed that the festival of Holi would bring happiness, peace, stability and brotherhood across the country and further strengthen Pakistan’s journey towards progress and prosperity
