LAHORE, Mar 01 (APP):Preparations have been finalised to start the third phase of Lahore Development Program to solve the long-standing problems of drainage and water supply in the provincial capital.
According to the official sources, this phase will be formally launched in the next financial year and it will include those areas that could not get complete coverage in the first phase.
Under the plan, new drainage and water supply networks have been planned in Nishtar Town, Ganj Bakhsh Town, Ravi Town and Wagah Town.
The installation of sewer lines connected to the streets is being made part of the design to reduce problems such as water accumulation and overflow at the local level. In the first phase, new sewerage and water lines have been laid in various areas of the city, while construction work is currently underway in several zones under Phase II.
The aim of the third phase is to complete the infrastructure in those settlements where the supply of drainage and clean water has not yet been fully established.
