CM expresses gratitude over fulfillment of major public welfare commitments

LAHORE, Feb 28 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed gratitude and humility over the fulfilment of major public welfare commitments, thanking Almighty Allah for enabling her government to deliver on major promises made to the people.
In a statement on Saturday, the CM said the pledge to provide shelter to the homeless was being realised, with nearly 150,000 houses currently under construction. Highlighting progress in transport, she said that the promise to introduce the world’s most modern electric buses has materialised, with 1,100 electric buses already operational and 1,500 more to be added to the fleet.
The chief minister said that over 20 million patients have benefited from field hospitals and Clinics on Wheels, fulfilling the commitment to deliver healthcare at people’s doorsteps. She added that work has begun on metro bus projects in Faisalabad and Gujranwala, expanding mass transit facilities to two major cities.
Describing the province’s solid waste management initiative as the world’s largest of its kind, she said the project has created employment for around 150,000 people and ensured cleanliness in rural areas for the first time.
CM Maryam Nawaz noted that 100,000 laptops have been distributed among students, while thousands of deserving students are receiving Honhaar scholarships. She added that patients suffering from cancer, cardiac diseases, hepatitis and tuberculosis were now receiving two months’ medicines at home, eliminating the need for elderly patients to stand in queues.
She said 3,000 basic health units have been upgraded into health clinics, cardiac treatment facilities have been expanded to the district level, and cath labs have been established in district hospitals where angiography and angioplasty services were now available. More than 10,000 children with congenital heart diseases have undergone surgeries, clearing the waiting list.
On law and order, she said significant improvement has been achieved with the establishment of CCD and PAFD, up to a 70 per cent reduction in crime, and the complete clearance of riverine (katcha) areas. She added that virtual police stations and panic buttons have been introduced to enhance women’s safety, fulfilling the commitment to protect every daughter of Punjab.
The CM also highlighted that employment and business opportunities were expanding through the Asaan Karobar Card and various finance schemes, leading to the launch of new businesses and the provision of more than 109,000 jobs across the province.
