SUKKUR, Feb 28 (APP): The 205th annual Urs of Hazrat Sachal Sarmast (RA) will be held on 14 Ramazan at Daraza, with Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah officially inaugurating the ceremony.
A preparatory meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khairpur, Altaf Ahmed Chachar, took place at the Darbar’s Mehfil-e-Sama hall to finalise arrangements. Officials reviewed plans for the reath floral on Shrine, Mehfil-e-Sama, award ceremony, mushaira, literary conference, wrestling, exhibition and other events.
Security, sanitation, street lighting, drinking water, CCTV coverage and a comprehensive security plan were prioritised.
Key participants included Sajjada Nashin Khawaja Abdul Haq Farooqi – III, SSP Khairpur, Dr Samiullah Somro, Secretary of the Sachal Yadgar Committee, Mukhtar Malik and representatives from police, local administration, information department, livestock, and other relevant agencies.
DC Chachar emphasised that Sachal Sarmast’s message of peace, love, tolerance and humanity must guide the celebrations, and called for coordinated efforts to improve facilities for pilgrims. SSP Soomro announced additional police deployment and urged public cooperation.
Sajjada Nashin Farooqi pledged full support from the Darbar, while community leaders highlighted the need for water supply, a functional dispensary and preservation of the historic Sachal well.
After the meeting, officials inspected the Sachal Cultural Complex to assess on ground preparations.
