PESHAWAR, Feb 28 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Sohail Afridi has formally inaugurated the Livestock Management Information System (LMIS) to create a seamless and efficient ecosystem for livestock industry
According to a statement released by CM Secretariat on Saturday, the initiative recognizes livestock sector as backbone of rural economy and aims to modernize it through digital integration.
The system would help development of a comprehensive database featuring geo-tagged farms and livestock. This digital infrastructure will allow for detailed record-keeping based on animal breed and age, while also utilizing digital codes to monitor the purchase and distribution of medicines and vaccines.
Additionally, a real-time surveillance system will be activated to facilitate quick identification of animals and rapid reporting of disease outbreaks.
To further support local producers, the LMIS includes establishment of a toll-free livestock helpline, providing farmers with direct access to expert guidance.
The platform will centralize digital monitoring of vaccination, treatment, and breeding services, effectively uniting farmers, veterinary hospitals, mobile clinics, and field staff.
By linking all service delivery to a central digital hub, the government aims to create a seamless and highly efficient ecosystem for the livestock industry.
The LMIS is expected to usher in a new era of reforms by ensuring transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery across the province, the statement concluded.
