KOHAT, Feb 27 (APP): Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah on Friday reviewed the law and order situation, progress on development projects and construction work on the Indus Highway while chairing a high-level Jirga in Karak district.
Deputy Commissioner Karak Asad Sarwar, assistant commissioners, police officials, local government representatives and elders of Khattak Ittehad attended the meeting.
The participants discussed security conditions, implementation of ongoing development schemes and the anti-polio campaign. Local representatives raised key community issues and proposed measures to strengthen peace and stability in the area.
The participants agreed to hold similar Jirgas at district and tehsil levels to ensure timely resolution of public issues.
The commissioner declared the Indus Highway a top administrative priority and continued to serve as the focal person to monitor progress and report to the judiciary on safety and traffic management measures.
At the conclusion of the Jirga, the participants offered special prayers for peace and prosperity in Pakistan and pledged to promote public welfare initiatives.
Later, the commissioner, accompanied by the deputy commissioner, inspected construction work on the Kunda–Karak bypass.
He directed the authorities to maintain quality, speed and transparency in development work and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.
Officials said timely completion of the bypass will ease traffic congestion and improve travel facilities for residents in line with the government’s priority to strengthen public service delivery.
