PESHAWAR, Feb 27 (APP):Civil society members and political leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday strongly condemned the unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban regime at multiple locations across the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They praised the swift and decisive response of Pakistani security forces, stating that the armed forces acted promptly to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Professor Dr. Ejaz Khan, former Chairman International Relations Department at University of Peshawar strongly denounced the cross-border aggression, stating that Pakistan had exercised maximum restraint but was left with no option except to launch a decisive operation, “Ghazab lil-Haq,” against the aggressor.
He said the Afghan Taliban regime had committed under the Doha Agreement in Qatar that Afghan soil would not be used against any country.
However, he claimed that the Afghan Taliban regime failed to act against terrorist elements, including Fitnaul Khwarij, and did not dismantle their training camps operating inside Afghanistan.
He further claimed that a nexus between the Afghan Taliban and Fitnaul Khwarij, backed by India, had put regional peace at stake.
Dr. Ejaz Khan reaffirmed that Pakistan would not compromise on its peace or territorial integrity and commended the armed forces for their effective response to the Afghan Taliban regime unprovoked aggression.
Former Ambassador Manzoorul Haq also condemned the cross-border firing, terming it a cowardly act. He said that the Afghan Taliban had failed to fulfill commitments made under the Doha Agreement and claimed that terrorist activities from Afghan soil against Pakistan continued.
He added that the people and armed forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared to safeguard the country’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Brigadier (R) Mahmood Shah, former Secretary for Law and Order of the erstwhile FATA, also strongly criticized the unprovoked firing of Afghan Taliban regime on civilian populations in multiple border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He claimed that a nexus between the Afghan Taliban and Fitnaul Khwarij, backed by India, was involved in planning and executing terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces are well-equipped, professionally trained, and fully capable of addressing both internal and external threats.
He reiterated that while Pakistan has consistently promoted peace, it would respond firmly to any aggression.
Shahibzada Hamza, President of PML-N Nowshera, stated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the government and armed forces of Pakistan for the defense of the motherland.
He claimed that the Afghan Taliban were acting as a proxy for India and were destabilizing peace in the region.
