ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP):The Virtual University of Pakistan formally commenced the distribution of laptops under Phase-IV of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025 in a prestigious ceremony held at its Head Office on Thursday.
A total of 2,475 laptops will be distributed among eligible students of the University in phases.
The ceremony was attended by Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and Rabia Naseem Farooqi, Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
Speaking on the occasion, Rector, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme in empowering students through enhanced access to technology.
He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for its continued support in promoting digital inclusion and academic excellence across Pakistan.
On the occasion, Wajiha Qamar, appreciated the pivotal role of Virtual University in expanding access to higher education through innovative and technology-driven learning platforms.
She said that the government’s commitment to equipping youth with modern tools to strengthen their academic and professional capabilities.
Rabia Naseem Farooqi congratulated the selected students and encouraged them to utilize the laptops productively to further enhance their education along with digital skills and contribute positively to national development.
Prof. Dr. Ather Azim Khan, Registrar of Virtual University of Pakistan, along with senior officials, faculty members, and students, was also present on the occasion.
While addressing the ceremony, he said that the entire selection and distribution process was conducted strictly on merit and in accordance with the guidelines and directions of the Higher Education Commission.
He added that transparency and fairness were ensured at every stage of the process.
He further advised students to use the laptops as a tool to enhance their learning, strengthen their research capabilities, and further advance their education in a productive and responsible manner.
As per the approved distribution plan, the laptop distribution will continue over multiple working days to ensure smooth and transparent allocation. Following the Islamabad ceremony, the distribution process will also take place at the University’s M.A. Jinnah Campus, Lahore, and other designated centers until completion.
The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025 aims to promote digital literacy, enhance academic research, and bridge the digital divide among students across the country.
Through this initiative, Virtual University of Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to fostering a technology-enabled learning environment and empowering students to excel in the digital age.
