ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP): To facilitate citizens during Ramazan, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has revised working hours at 14 M-Tag installation points across the federal capital.
Under the new plan, two toll plazas will operate round the clock, while several other centers will remain open for 12 hours daily, from 9am to 9pm, to reduce queues and help motorists complete registration with ease.
The decision was approved by the Director General Excise to ensure smoother access for owners of cars and motorcycles who need M-Tags for travel on major routes. Officials said the revised timings aim to spread visitor flow throughout the day and night, especially during fasting hours.
According to the spokesman of ICT administration here, motorists can now get M-Tags installed 24 hours a day at the
26 Number Toll Plaza and Phulgran Toll Plaza. These two points will remain open without interruption, allowing commuters and commercial drivers to complete the process at any time.
Meanwhile, to provide extended daytime access, the department has fixed 12-hour timings (9am–9pm) at F-9 Park, Police Check Post G-14, Rawat T-Chowk.
Officials said these sites were selected due to higher traffic movement and public demand during morning and evening hours.
Furthermore, several other facilities will continue operations during standard office hours, from 9am to 5pm, including: Gulberg Greens, Faizabad, Malpur, Wheat Godown near Sabzi Mandi Police Station, Daman-e-Koh, Murree Road near Tulip Hotel, Ninth Avenue Margalla Avenue, Excise Office.
These centers will follow the revised schedule throughout Ramazan unless further instructions are issued.
According to officials, the revised hours are meant to reduce congestion at a few busy points by distributing visitors across multiple locations and longer time windows. The move also allows people to visit centers after work hours or late at night, which was not possible under the earlier schedule.
Motorists have been advised to carry required documents, including vehicle registration details and identification, to avoid delays. Staff at all centers have been instructed to ensure smooth processing and clear guidance for visitors.
The Excise Department urged residents of Islamabad to use the nearest center according to the new schedule and avoid last-minute rush.
