Govt. turns challenges into achievements through reforms: Dr. Tariq Fazal

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP): Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Thursday said the government, over the past two years, has successfully steered the country away from the threats of economic bankruptcy and global isolation, transforming challenges into achievements through coordinated reforms and tireless efforts.
Addressing the two-day Pakistan Governance Forum 2026, themed “Reimagining Governance for URAAN Pakistan”, he said that when Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif assumed office, the country was facing severe economic and diplomatic pressures.
“At that time, Pakistan’s adversaries were expecting the country to default and drift toward global isolation,” he said, adding that these were the primary challenges the government confronted at the outset.
He said that under the prime minister’s direction, cabinet members worked around the clock to stabilize the economy and restore Pakistan’s standing in the international community. “Today, the world acknowledges Pakistan’s recovery and renewed global engagement,” he added.
Highlighting diplomatic progress, Dr. Tariq referred to the prime minister’s recent visit to the United States, where US President Donald Trump extended a warm reception. He said the positive remarks made during the visit reflected recognition not only for the leadership but for the entire Pakistani nation.
Dr. Tariq said that Pakistan’s role on global and international forums had strengthened significantly, noting that the country continued to play a leading role in the Muslim Ummah.
Referring to the performance of various ministries—including Interior, IT, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Climate Change, and Housing—he said each ministry had publicly presented its achievements, demonstrating measurable progress despite inherited challenges.
Speaking about his own portfolio, he described the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs as a key coordinating body responsible for steering the government’s legislative business in both the National Assembly and the Senate.
He explained that all government bills, ordinances, and legislative initiatives are routed through the ministry to ensure their presentation, committee review, and eventual passage.
“No ministry operates independently of Parliament,” he said, adding that directing, coordinating, and facilitating legislative processes to achieve tangible outcomes is the core responsibility of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
He added that over the past two years, the ministry has effectively managed the passage of numerous government bills and ordinances, ensuring smooth legislative proceedings and strengthening democratic processes.
Dr. Tariq also highlighted the critical role of the Prime Minister’s Complaint Wing in addressing citizens’ grievances from across Pakistan, including overseas Pakistanis, through a streamlined and effective mechanism.
He explained that the wing operates under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and provides direct access for citizens to register complaints related to any government department.
Unlike the formal portal requiring detailed applications, the Prime Minister’s Complaint Wing offers a simplified interface with multiple channels, including telephone, SMS, social media, and email. Once a complaint is received, it is monitored by ministry officers, deputy secretaries, and section heads, and tracked in coordination with the respective department until resolution.
“We are proud to report that over 90 percent of complaints are resolved satisfactorily each month,” he said, calling it a “unique facility under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister, ensuring accountability and timely redress of public grievances nationwide.”
Dr. Tariq added that citizens can submit complaints either via a simple application addressed to the Prime Minister’s Complaint Cell, Islamabad, or through direct messaging and other online applications. All complaints are systematically entertained and followed up to ensure effective solutions.
He further highlighted the government’s longstanding commitment—from the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the current administration under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif—to address public issues and national challenges, including economic development, counter-terrorism, poverty alleviation, infrastructure, and climate change.
The minister that the ministry is committed to transparency, efficiency, and public service, aiming to deliver tangible results and strengthen trust between the government and the people.
