ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP): The OIC-COMSTECH has launched the second phase of its Small Research Grants Program for Young Women Researchers from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), aimed at promoting scientific research and empowering women in science and technology sectors.
According to the COMSTECH, the initiative is designed to support young women scientists actively engaged in indigenous research within OIC countries.
The program seeks to strengthen research capacity, promote innovation, and enhance scientific collaboration across member states while encouraging greater participation of women in research and development activities.
Under the program, individual research grants ranging from 5,000 to 7,000 US dollars will be awarded for a one-year period.
The financial support is intended to facilitate ongoing research projects led by women researchers and may be utilized for the purchase of minor scientific equipment, laboratory materials, and research consumables.
The eligible research disciplines include Applied Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Medicine, reflecting COMSTECH’s focus on advancing scientific excellence and technological development in priority sectors.
To qualify, applicants must be nationals of OIC member states, possess a PhD degree, and be serving as full-time faculty members at recognized universities or research institutions.
The applicants must also be below 45 years of age at the time of application submission.
The officials said the program forms part of COMSTECH’s broader efforts to build sustainable research ecosystems, enhance institutional capacity, and provide opportunities for emerging women scientists to contribute to socio-economic development through research-based solutions.
The applications submitted after the deadline will not be entertained. The last date to apply is April 6, 2026.
The interested candidates may submit applications through the official registration portal, while further details and program guidelines are available through COMSTECH’s official communication channels.
The organization emphasized that selected awardees must remain affiliated with their parent institutions throughout the grant period, adding that COMSTECH reserves the right to revise the number and amount of grants or revoke awards in case of non-compliance with program conditions.
