ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police conducted 32 large-scale search and combing operations across different areas of the federal capital during the ongoing week, intensifying efforts to curb criminal activities and strengthen security.
An official told APP on Thursday that lady police officials also actively participated in the operations carried out under a comprehensive security strategy.
He said that during the search operations, police teams checked 3,529 individuals, 1,449 households, and 517 shops. Additionally, 1,046 motorcycles and 344 vehicles were inspected.
The official said that 317 suspected individuals, including 57 Afghan nationals, were shifted to various police stations for verification, while nine vehicles and 77 motorcycles were impounded for further checking.
He said that five proclaimed offenders wanted in serious criminal cases were arrested, while 51 accused involved in drug peddling, illegal weapons, and other criminal activities were apprehended.
Police recovered 1,185 grams of heroin and one gram of ice from the arrested accused. Illegal weapons, including a Kalashnikov, two rifles, seven pistols, a dagger, and a large quantity of ammunition, were also seized.
The official said that legal action was taken against 39 individuals for violations of the Tenancy Act.
He said the operations were aimed at preventing crime and ensuring law and order, adding that ICT Police would continue such measures under the directions of the IGP Islamabad.
