ANF arrests nine, seizes 425 kg of narcotics in nationwide crackdown

RAWALPINDI, Feb 26 (APP): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested nine suspects and seized more than 425 kilograms of drugs worth over Rs 34 million in six operations conducted near educational institutions and in various cities, an ANF spokesperson said on Thursday.
In an operation near a university on Hattar Road in Haripur, officials recovered 300 grams of hashish from a suspect who later confessed to supplying narcotics to students, the spokesperson said.
In Karachi, 249.7 kg of hashish was seized from a vehicle intercepted near the Lyari Expressway, and two suspects were taken into custody.
Separately, ANF personnel recovered 76 kg of hashish and 4 kg of opium from a vehicle near Turbat District Catch, arresting one suspect. In another operation in the same district, 10 kg of methamphetamine (ice) was seized from a vehicle, and the driver was detained.
In Rawalpindi, 84 kg of hashish, a 30-bore pistol and four rounds of ammunition were recovered from two vehicles near Kallar Syedan. Three suspects were arrested.
Meanwhile, 1.2 kg of hashish was seized from a suspect near the Sher Shah Toll Plaza in Multan.
The ANF spokesperson said all the arrested individuals had been charged under the relevant narcotics laws, and investigations were continuing to trace wider networks involved in drug distribution, particularly around educational institutions.
