Black day observed at Ayub Teaching Hospital against killing of Dr. Mahwish

ABBOTTABAD, Feb 26 (APP):Doctors and medical staff at Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH) Abbottabad Thursday observed a Black Day and staged a peaceful protest to strongly condemn the brutal murder of Dr. Mahwish, describing it as a tragic incident that has deeply shocked the medical community.
Hospital Director Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Afridi, who joined the protest, expressed complete solidarity with the doctors and termed the killing highly condemnable. He announced that the hospital administration would further strengthen security by establishing a Quick Response Force, setting up security posts at various points, and tightening internal security arrangements.
He made it clear that the institution would not compromise on security and that the protection of frontline healthcare workers would remain the top priority.
During the observance, doctors and staff across various departments wore black armbands and recorded their protest. A collective prayer was also held at the Doctors’ Association office, attended by a large number of healthcare workers, who prayed for the departed soul and patience for the bereaved family.
Dr. Mahwish was brutally murdered in Kohat while returning home from duty. The participants demanded effective security for healthcare workers and concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
The hospital administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and peaceful working environment for all medical staff, emphasizing that protecting those who serve patients is a fundamental responsibility of the state and institutions.
