ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested an injured member of the ‘Kata Gang’ following an exchange of fire with armed suspects in the jurisdiction of Khanna police station.
An official told APP on Thursday that a Khanna police team was moving to arrest suspected criminals after receiving credible intelligence about their presence in the area.
He said that three armed suspects riding a motorcycle opened direct fire upon seeing the police team.
Police officers remained unharmed due to bulletproof jackets and timely defensive measures, the official added.
He said that during the exchange of fire, one suspect was injured by firing from his own accomplices and was arrested on the spot.
The injured accused was shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
Police also recovered snatched mobile phones, the motorcycle used in criminal activities, and weapons with ammunition from his possession.
The official said the accused was a previously recorded offender involved in more than 45 robbery cases and was wanted by both Islamabad and Rawalpindi police in multiple street crime incidents.
He said raids were underway to arrest the fleeing accomplices.
