QUETTA, Feb 25 (APP): Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has praised the steady progress of Balochistan’s higher education sector, calling its advancement a matter of collective pride and achievement.
Speaking at the Governor House during a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, he noted that public sector universities across the province are showing continuous improvement in rankings and performance scores.
Governor Jaffar Mandokhail highlighted the dramatic rise in Bolan Medical University’s ranking from 15 percent to 58.5 percent within two years as a remarkable achievement. With new admissions this year, the number of enrolled medical students is expected to reach around 4,000.
He commended Vice Chancellor Dr Shabbir Ahmed Lehri and his team for their dedication, noting that their efforts have significantly strengthened the institution’s academic standing, said a news release.
The governor pointed out that in the past year, the university introduced 12 new medical disciplines, including nursing, medical laboratory sciences, dental studies, and surgery. The launch of aesthetic surgery programs has also received strong public response.
Jaffar Mandokhail emphasized that the provincial government is equipping young people with medical skills aligned with international demand, creating opportunities for employment abroad.
He said graduates will be better positioned to secure overseas jobs, which could help reduce unemployment in Balochistan if the current momentum continues.
He stressed that sustained progress will require balancing the expansion of medical courses with the promotion of modern research trends.
The governor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening higher education institutions, ensuring long-term academic excellence and professional development across the province.
He expressed confidence that Bolan Medical University will soon emerge as a major force in medical education, producing skilled professionals.
